The Vector Propeller is a surface-piercing, controllable propeller, combined with a fast adjusting mechanism and an intelligent control system. It is the perfect propulsion and control system for all kinds of river vessels. The system excels by its high maneuverability, especially in narrow straits. The Vector Propeller achieves excellent efficiencies owing to its large propeller diameter, combined with low speeds and low hull draughts. Compared to conventional systems, improvements of 20 to 40 % were realized. As a result, the operating costs of a ship can be significantly reduced. At the heart of the control system is a computer-programmable unit (SPS). Changes in direction are exclusively carried out by systematic and coordinated modification of the speed and the blade angle. Yet for the captain, this control system appears like the familiar combination of propeller, control blade and transverse pitch propeller. The Vector Propeller is robust and easy to maintain. In the event of damage there is in general no need for mooring, as all components are freely accessible. Thanks to the availability of an emergency system, the innovative control system allows safe operation at all times.
