Buoy Laying Vessel

Buoys are indispensable aids to mariners, especially in coastal waters or close to port. They mark out shipping channels and indicate the shallows in waterways. Buoy-laying vessels position and service these important navigational aids.

On these buoy layers, Voith Schneider Propellers are installed either at the stern or at both ends. When arranged at the stern, two are fitted. In the double-ended configuration, one propeller is fitted at each end. They create optimum conditions for propulsion, steering and positioning.

Buoy layers with two Voith Schneider Propellers make buoy handling far easier:

  1. Thanks to their precise manoeuvrability, the buoys can be positioned more accurately.
  2. They hold their position in windy conditions and in strong currents., so that the work can be carried out more quickly.
  3. The ship can travel without delay to the sector where the work is to be carried out.
  4. There is no need for an additional bow steering device.
  5. All manoeuvres, including turns on the spot and traversing, are possible.
