South African power utility Eskom commissions Voith Siemens Hydro Power  Generation to supply all the electromechanical equipment needed at its Ingula pumped-storage power plant by 2013.

Voith Paper receives an order from Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited for a production plant for highquality writing, printing and copying paper. Environmentally friendly sugarcane bagasse cellulose produced at the same plant will be the principal raw material.

On a visit to Voith Siemens Hydro’s operation in York, USA, American presidential candidate Barack Obama learns about the importance of hydropower within the green energy-mix.

China’s Guodian Dadu River Hydro Power Development Company commissions Voith Siemens Hydro to supply four Francis turbines, each dimensioned to deliver
650 MW, for the Chinese Dagangshan hydropower plant.

Deutsche Bahn AG invests in the future of freight transportation by ordering 130 Gravita locomotives from Voith Turbo. Weighing in at 80 metric tons, boasting a rated power output of 1 000 kW (1 360 hp) and with a top speed of 100 km/h, the Gravitas will be used for heavy marshaling duty and light transportation services.

Premier (Voith Industrial Services) in the USA receives several orders from Ford, including a technical cleaning order from Ford Kentucky Truck and an infrastructural facility management order from Ford Oakland.

Voith Turbo wins its first ever Japanese order for two Voith Schneider propellers.

Oji Paper Co. Ltd., Japan, and Voith Paper sign a delivery and service agreement for a whole machine (PM 1) to produce wood-free coated paper.
Sulzer awards Voith Turbo a contract to supply eight couplings, four of which are to be deployed at a power plant in Russia. Further couplings will be shipped to plants in Hungary and Slovakia.

Century Pulp and Paper, India, places an order with Voith Paper for a complete new board machine.

Voith Turbo assembles 6 289 retarders – more than ever before in a single month.

350 buses manufactured by EvoBus and MAN are fitted with DIWA transmissions from Voith Turbo. All these buses will go into service in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Voith Turbo ships 144 wheelset transmissions to Chinese manufacturer Puzhen for deployment in the Mumbai metro in India.

Scottish Energy Minister Jim Mather starts the 100 KW test turbine at the wave power plant operated by Wavegen, a subsidiary of Voith Siemens Hydro. The 100 KW turbine is the prototype for the Siadar Wave Energy Project (SWEP), which npower  renewables will operate on Scotland’s largest island, the Isle of Lewis and Harris.

Deutsche Industriewartung (Voith Industrial Services) successfully completes a number of projects for Airbus Deutschland in Hamburg within the framework of a long-standing partnership.

The Bodan wharf orders two Voith Schneider propellers for a new roll-on/roll-off ferry for the Konstanz municipal utility company. The Suez Canal Authority orders two more propellers for one of its ferries.

Deutsche Industriewartung (Voith Industrial Services) successfully completes a Germany-wide infrastructure facility management order on behalf of the Zurich Insurance Group.

Voith Industrial Services acquires engineering company CeBeNetwork, which employs 360 people and posts annual sales of around EUR 52 million. CeBeNetwork is one of the largest providers of engineering services for the European aviation industry. Headquartered in Bremen, Germany, the company also operates sites in Hamburg, France, the UK and Spain and focuses on complex development projects.

More than 3 200 DIWA transmissions from Voith Turbo are now deployed in bus rapid transportation systems around the world. In Bogotá, Columbia, which boasts the world’s pioneer project in this segment, Voith has an over 80% share of the market.

Dieffenbacher GmbH & Co. KG and Voith Industrial Services sign an agreement governing maintenance of the former’s Eppingen facility. The contract runs for five years and also includes infrastructural facility management and logistical services.

Italian turbo-engine and compressor manufacturer Nuovo Pignone commissions Voith Turbo to supply a Vorecon planetary gear for a cooling compressor at a liquefied natural gas (LNS) plant in Lanzhou, China.

Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co. orders 83 new trains for metro lines 7 and 9 in Shanghai. Voith Turbo Scharfenberg will fit these trains with a total of 178 front couplers.

American Municipal Power Ohio in the USA commissions Voith Siemens Hydro to supply all the electromechanical equipment for three hydro power plants that will feature a total of eight bulb turbine units and the associated generators on the Ohio River. This is the largest single order ever won by the American unit of Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation.

Hino, Mitsubishi Fuso and Nissan Diesel already offer their customers retarders from Voith. Now, a fourth Japanese automotive company – Isuzu – has followed suit. More than 20 000 retarders are already in service in Japan, the most important market for these products outside Europe.

Voith Siemens Hydro Power Kraftwerkstechnik will supply four 213 MW pump turbines and the four associated spherical valves for the La Muela II pumped storage station on the Rio Jucar in Spain. The customer is Spanish power utility Iberdrola.

Voith Paper wins a contract from Yueyang Paper, China, to supply two copying paper machines. Voith Siemens Hydro is chosen to provide four 275 MW Francis turbines for China Datang Corporation’s Ting Zi Kou hydro power plant in China by 2012.

Mondi commissions Voith Paper to rebuild a paper machine at Steti in the Czech Republic.

John Deere of Davenport in the American state of Iowa awards Voith Turbo its highest distinction. Voith Turbo is now an official partner in the company’s “Achieving Excellence Program”.

South Africa’s state-run power utility Eskom places a large order with Voith Turbo for 18 variable-speed Vorecon planetary gear systems. Planned for installation at the new Medupi coal-fired power plant, each Vorecon will deliver a rated output of 17 MW. Total output of 4 740 MW should enable Medupi to play a large part in eliminating bottlenecks in the power grid.

Dr. Hubert Lienhard takes over from Dr. Hermut Kormann as President and Chief Executive Officer effective April 1. Dr. Lienhard is succeeded as Chairman of Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation by Dr. Roland Münch.

In Dearborn, Michigan, USA, Premier is presented with the “2007 World Excellence Award” by Ford Brazil. This is the first award to be won by the Brazilian team, which maintains production equipment at the paintshop and in the press plant at Ford’s facility in Camacari, Brazil.

Ford in Canada and the USA commissions Voith Industrial Services to handle a variety of service orders at its plants in Windsor, Canada, and Avon Lake Chicago and Livonia, USA. The package includes maintenance cleaning, warehouse management, paintshop cleaning, facility management and other services.

Voith Industrial Services acquires Newtec Kemiteknik AB, which is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. Newtec’s 35 employees specialize in technical cleaning and other technical services in the paper, chemicals and energy industries.

Voith Paper signs an agreement with Lee & Man Industries for the delivery of a stock preparation plant for OCC at Hong Mei paper mill in China.

Polysius AG places an order with Voith Industrial Services for the rebuild of a rotary kiln with satellite cooler and the assembly of a bypass-plant at Schwenk cement works near Allmendingen, Germany.

Voith Siemens Hydro will deliver five generators, each rated at 400 MVA, for the hydro power station Longkaikou in the Chinese province Yunnan. The order was placed by the operator Langcangjiang Hydro.

At Enervest AG in the Staffelstein wind park in the German Eifel Mountains, Voith Industrial Services will carry out the refurbishment of eight wind energy stations type Südwind S70 with a total output of 12 MW.

Voith Turbo receives an order from Rotem for the delivery of 20 front covers and 160 final drives for the high-speed train Korean Train Express II.

Voith Industrial Services receives another major order from the US-American automotive industry. At Chrysler in the State of Arizona, Premier will carry out maintenance, repairs and production support for the next five years.

Voith Industrial Services acquires the German ERMO Group with approximately 700 employees and sales of € 80 million. ERMO is a premium supplier in Europe for technical services, primarily for the petrochemical and the power station industry.

Voith Turbo supplies final drives for 156 vehicles of New Delhi Metro.

In Skärblacka, Sweden, Voith Industrial Services carries out the complete rebuild of the paper machine PM 7 at Billerud AB paper mill.

The world’s highest wind turbine, situated at a height of 4200 meters in the Argentinian Andes, receives a Voith Turbo WinDrive. The 2 Megawatt plant supplies energy for the Barrick “Veladero” gold mine.

Voith Turbo in St. Pölten delivers the 1 000th SZH 595 final drive to Traktionssysteme Austria.

Voith Turbo Wind is awarded with the “Innovation Prize of German Industry” in Frankfurt (Main) for its newly developed WinDrive as one of five finalists among 269 applicants.

Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik in Kiel, Germany, wins the competition “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas”, initiated by “Germany – Land of Ideas” and Deutsche Bank.
Another award was won by Voith Turbo in Brazil. Voith Turbo Brazil is honored by Daimler-Benz as “Best Supplier 2007” among 400 entries.

Papierfabrik Palm GmbH & Co. KG in Neukochen, Germany, chooses Voith Paper to supply paper machine PM 7 to a new mill in Lynn, UK. The newsprint production line will have a wire width of 11.40 meters and is designed to reach a maximum production speed of 2 200 m/min.

Voith Turbo Scharfenberg fits state-of-the-art couplings and energy dissipating devices in 321 mass transit railcars for Deutsche Bahn AG, the German national rail carrier.

At the 2007 Econ Awards for Corporate Communication in Berlin, Voith AG’s Corporate Communications unit wins the platinum award in the category “Image Films/Interactive Media”.

Voith Industrial Services opens a new workshop complete with railcar wash plant at Venlo-Blerick in the Netherlands. Voith Railservice B.V. will use the new facility to handle contracts such as the maintenance order for 16 trains received in March 2007 from Veolia Transport Nederland.

Voith Turbo announces that Havelländische Eisenbahn AG, headquartered in Berlin-Spandau, has placed an order for two Maxima 40 CC locomotives. The order includes an option on six additional Maximas.

Jin Sheng Paper Industries (Tianjin) Co. Ltd. in China orders the entire Jin Sheng PM 32 paper machine from Voith Paper. The new production line will be used to manufacture kraft liner and test liner board.

November 2007
Voith Siemens Hydro takes over Kössler, a small hydropower plant company. Headquartered in St. Georgen, Austria, the Kössler GmbH machine factory employs around 70 people and posted sales of €17 million last fiscal year.

Acting as part of a consortium, Voith Siemens Hydro is given the nod to supply the electromechanical fittings to the Picote II hydropower plant in Portugal. The customer is Portuguese energy utility Energias de Portugal.

Dongguan Sea Dragon Paper Industries Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Nine Dragons Paper Co. Ltd. in Dongguan, China, commissions Voith Paper to supply paper machine PM 28.

Voith Turbo Scharfenberg ships 344 couplings to railcar manufacturer Bombardier. The end customer is SNCF, the French national rail carrier.

Voith Industrial Services buys a 100% stake in SIS Skandinavisk Industrieservice AS in Ringstedt, Denmark. SIS is a leading provider of technical services for the petrochemical and chemical industries and for power plants in Scandinavia.

Voith Siemens Hydro announces an order to ship the entire set of electromechanical equipment to Turkey’s Uzuncayir hydropower plant.

October 2007
In the presence of Michael Glos, Federal Minister of the Economy, Voith Siemens Hydro and its Korean joint venture partner Renetec sign an agreement to develop, install and test the first three turbines for a 600-Megawatt tide power plant for the South Korean province of Jeollanam-do.

W. Hamburger Papirgyato KFT awards Voith Paper the contract to supply the whole of paper machine PM 7 to its Hungarian plant in Dunaujvaros.

Voith Siemens Hydro is commissioned to provide the full complement of electromechanical equipment for Chile’s La Confluencia hydropower plant. The end customer is Hidroelectrica La Confluencia S.A.

A diesel-powered vehicle from British construction equipment manufacturer JCB sets a new world speed record of 563 km/h for this class of vehicle on the Bonneville Salt Lake in the USA. On board the recordbreaking vehicle were hydraulic torsional vibration dampers from Voith Turbo.

Voith Siemens Hydro wins the contract to deliver three Francis turbines plus generators and a variety of other equipment to the Eastmain 1A hydropower plant on the Rupert River in Canada. The end customer is Hydro Québec.
